Your storage space

See how much space your files and your account take up, and clean up your activity history.

Space shows how much room your account takes up: the files you upload and the records the product keeps for you. This guide explains each figure on the page.

Open the page

Choose Space in the My panel group of the side menu. The figures are measured each time you open the page, so reload it to see them change.

The three cards

  • File space is what your files take up, copies included. When you upload an image, smaller copies are made to show it quickly, and they count here too. This covers every file in your files and folders, your profile picture included.
  • Data space is what the records of your account take up: your details, your history, your sessions, your notifications and so on. It is approximate.
  • Total is File space plus Data space.

If your plan limits your file space, the File space card shows what you use next to your limit, as "used of limit", with a bar below it that fills as you use it. From 80% the card warns you with You have used and the percentage of your space. Once it is full, it says You have run out of space. Free some up by deleting files you no longer need, or buy more space. At that point new uploads are refused until you free some space. Only file space is limited this way: data space never stops you from doing anything.

When your plan sets no limit, the card shows only what your files take up, with no bar.

What your data space is made of

This table splits your Data space into parts. Each row shows What it is and its Approximate size:

  • Your account
  • Your files and folders: the records that describe your files and folders, not the files themselves, which count as file space.
  • Your activity history
  • Your open sessions
  • Your notifications
  • Your conversations and messages
  • Your referrals
  • Your roles and permissions
  • Everything else you keep

The last line adds them up and matches the Data space card.

Why the figures are approximate

Your records are stored together with those of every other account. Each figure is your share of that shared space, worked out from how many of the records are yours. Because of this, a figure can move when other accounts add or remove records, even if you did nothing. Use them to see where your space goes, not as an exact measurement.

Clean up your activity history

Your history is the record of what changed in your account, your folders and your files. It usually grows the most over time.

  1. In Clean up your activity history, choose which Entries to remove: Older than a month, Older than three months, Older than six months, Older than a year or Everything. Everything removes your whole history, whatever its age: the entries about your account as well as those about your folders and files.
  2. Click Clean up.

You see History cleaned up with the number of entries removed, or Nothing to clean up with You have no history entries older than the age you picked. if there was nothing to remove. You see that same message when you chose Everything and your history was already empty. Removed entries cannot be recovered.

Cleaning up lowers the Your activity history figure on this page. It does not delete any of your files and does not free disk on the server.

Sometimes the history cannot be cleaned up yet. You see History was not cleaned up and the reason, which is one of these:

  • Set a new password before cleaning up your history.: you have been asked to change your password.
  • Your account is blocked, so its history cannot be cleaned up.: your account is blocked.
  • Complete your country in your profile before cleaning up your history.: your profile has no country.
  • Settle your outstanding balance before cleaning up your history.: your account has a pending balance.
  • You need an active subscription to clean up your history.: you have no active subscription.

The last three only apply when the product charges for its plans. When it does not, only the password and a blocked account can stop the clean-up.
