Your files and folders

Upload files, organise them in folders, and see how much space they take up.

Media is where the files you upload are kept. You can organise them in folders, preview them, rename them, move them and delete them. This guide shows how.

Open your files

Choose Media in the My panel group of the side menu. The page opens on your top folder, titled Media. When you are inside a folder, its name is the title, and the path above it takes you back to any folder on the way.

Under the title, Storage used shows how much the folder you are in takes up, counting everything inside its folders too. On your top folder, that is all your files.

Each folder shows its size and how long ago it was created. Each file shows its name, its size and how long ago it was uploaded; images show a small preview.

A folder with nothing in it shows This folder is empty and Get started by uploading a file or creating a folder.

Upload files

  1. Open the folder where the files should go.
  2. Click Upload File and choose one or more files. You can also drag files from your computer and drop them onto the page.
  3. The Upload queue at the bottom shows each file's progress. Use the button next to a file to cancel it, or Cancel all to stop every upload that has not finished.

When a file is stored, you see File uploaded!. Each file can be up to 110 MB. A bigger file is not uploaded: you see File not uploaded, with how much the file weighs and what the maximum is. Large images are made smaller when they are uploaded.

If your plan limits your file space and you have used all of it, the file is not stored: you see File not uploaded and You have run out of space. Free some up by deleting files you no longer need, or buy more space.

Create a folder

  1. Open the folder that should contain the new one.
  2. Click Create Folder.
  3. Type the Folder Name and click Create. You see Folder created!.

A folder name must be between 2 and 60 characters long. It can contain letters without accents, a lowercase ñ, numbers, spaces, dashes, underscores, parentheses, & and +. Accented vowels such as á or é, and a capital Ñ, are refused, so write the name without them. Two folders in the same place cannot share a name, even with different capital letters: you see A folder with that name already exists here.

Work with a file or a folder

Click a file or a folder to select it. The buttons at the top of the page change to the actions you can take on it; you can also right-click it to see the same actions.

For a folder:

  • Open opens it. Double-clicking the folder does the same.
  • Edit lets you change its Name, or choose another Path to move it inside a different folder. The Path list leaves out the folder itself and the folders inside it. You see Folder modified when it is saved. Here the name only has to be between 1 and 128 characters long: the character rules for creating a folder do not apply. It still cannot match another folder's name in the same place.
  • Copy Path copies where the folder is inside your files.
  • Delete asks you to confirm first, and warns that the folder and all its contents will be deleted. Click Confirm to delete it with everything inside it. You see the folder's name followed by deleted successfully!.

For a file:

  • Details shows a preview of images, PDFs, video and audio, together with its Name, Size and File type, and a link to Open file in new tab. Double-clicking the file does the same.
  • Edit lets you change its Name and Description, or choose another Path to move it to a different folder. The name can be up to 128 characters long. You see File modified when it is saved.
  • Copy URL copies the file's link.
  • Delete asks you to confirm first. Click Confirm to delete the file. You see the file's name followed by deleted successfully!.

A file with a warning sign in its corner is stored, but the smaller copies used to show it could not be made. Hover over the sign to see The copies of this file could not be generated.

Your profile picture

The picture you choose in My Profile is saved in your top Media folder, with the rest of your files. It takes up space like any other file.

The picture has its own limit: up to 5 MB, as the page says under Profile picture with JPG, GIF or PNG. Max size of 5MB. Files you upload in Media keep the 110 MB limit.

To see how much space your files and the rest of your account use, open Your storage space.
