Applications collects the people who apply to work at the company, and lets you move each one through the hiring process until they are hired. Tests keeps the tests prepared for each position, with their questions. Each one appears in the side menu only if you have been given access to it.
Find an application
Choose Applications in the Commercial group of the side menu. Applications arrive in two ways:
- From the application form at the bottom of the Slicing Pie page and of the leaders page of the company's marketing site. There is no other public job application form.
- When you add one yourself with Create Application. The form requires Name, Email (a valid address), Phone, Country, City, Birth Date (a valid date), Role and Phase, and so does editing an application; CV is optional. Phase comes set to Pending and Level to Trainee; change them if the candidate is further along.
An application that arrives through the form starts in Pending, with Is Interested turned on, no Level and Valid turned off. Review it and set those yourself. The form refuses an email that already has an application, so someone who applied before cannot send a second one; update their existing application instead.
The list shows each candidate's Name, Country, City, Role, Phase, Level, whether they are Valid, and Created At, when the application arrived.
At first the list shows only candidates who are still interested. Use the filters to change that, or to narrow it by Country, City, Position, Phase, Level, Is Interested or Has Requirements.
What an application holds
- Name, Email, Phone, Country, City and Birth Date.
- Role, the position they applied for.
- CV, the file they sent, and a Description.
- Phase, where they are in the process: Pending, Selected, Interview, Technical Interview, Hired or Rejected. A new application starts as Pending.
- Level: Trainee, Junior, Jr Middle, Middle, Middle Senior or Senior.
- Is Interested, turned on for a new application. Turn it off when the candidate is no longer interested, and they drop out of the list's default view.
- Valid, turned on when the candidate meets the position's requirements.
Once a candidate is hired, their page also shows the User account made for them.
Move a candidate forward
Each application offers these actions, in the list and on its page. They run as soon as you click them; there is no confirmation.
- Next process moves the candidate to the next Phase. It is offered until the candidate is Hired, and never for a Rejected candidate. Moving from Technical Interview marks them Hired without making an account for them; use Hire for that. To reject a candidate, edit the application and choose Rejected.
- WhatsApp opens SyncPro, the company's messaging tool, which is a separate site, with the candidate's name, email and phone filled in, so you can write to them. Those details travel in the address of the page it opens. It is offered only when the application has a phone.
- Hire, on the application's page, makes an active account for the candidate and marks them Hired. It is offered only while the candidate is neither Hired nor Rejected and has no account yet.
What Hire saves
The new account takes:
- The candidate's Name, and a work email at the company's domain built from it, in lower case and without spaces: with two words, the first and the second together; with three or more, the first and the third; with a single word, that word. Extra spaces in the name are ignored, and accented letters and ñ become plain letters, so José Núñez gives
josenunez. - Their Email as the personal email, their Phone, their Birth Date, and their City and Country as their place of residence.
- A random password that nobody sees.
- Time Zone set to Mexico City (America/Mexico_City); change it on the account if the person lives elsewhere.
- A position with the Role they applied for, paid By Activity. Change its pay in the position; see Positions, contracts and pay.
The application moves to Hired, and the new person is emailed, at their work email, a link to set their own password. If that email cannot be sent you see The password setup link could not be sent. Send it again from the user. The person's page has no button to send it again: ask the person to use Forgot password? on the sign-in page with their work email to get a new link.
If an account already uses that work email, Hire creates nothing and you see An account with the email … already exists. Check whether the person was already hired or edit the application name., with the email it built.
Otherwise you are taken to the new account in the user administration. You can open it only if you also have access to manage users; see Manage users.
Tests
Choose Tests in the Tools group of the side menu. Each test has a Name and the Role it is meant for.
Open a test to see its Questions, and add one from there. A question has its Question text and a Type:
- Open: the answer is written. Choose the Type of Input (Code, Text or Trix) and, if you want, a Default Value.
- Options or Multiple: the answer is picked from a list. Click the + next to Options to add each option, with its Name and its Value.
Tests and their questions are kept here for the hiring process; they are not sent to candidates from this panel.
