Contact messages

Read the messages visitors send from the contact page of weblabor.mx, mark each one as read or answered, and review the ones set aside as spam.

Contact Messages keeps every message a visitor sends from the form on the contact page of weblabor.mx: who wrote, how to reach them, what they are interested in and what they said. Each new message also reaches you as a notification.

You see Contact Messages in the Commercial group of the side menu only if you have been given access to it.

When a message arrives

Everyone with access to Contact Messages gets a notification titled New contact message from and the visitor's name, with the start of the message. Open it to go straight to the message. If you chose to receive notifications by email, the email carries the visitor's Email, Phone, Interest and the whole message. Reply to that email to answer the visitor: your reply goes to their email address. The phone is a link you can tap to call them.

A message the contact page sets aside as spam sends no notification: see Review spam below.

The list

The list shows the newest messages first, with each one's Name, Interest, Status, shown as a coloured tag, and Created At; click the eye icon, View, at the end of a row to open it. Use the filters to narrow it by Status or by Interest. Choosing A product or A service as the interest shows every message about any product or any service; choosing a single product or service shows only the messages about it. Spam is left out of the list until you ask for it with the Status filter.

Open a message to read it whole, with its Email, which you can click to write to the visitor, its Phone, which you can click to call, and the Locale it was written in, shown by the language's name.

Messages are created only by the contact page: you cannot create, edit or delete one from here.

Mark a message as read or answered

A new message has the status New. On its page:

  1. Click Mark as read once you have read it. The button shows only while the message is new.
  2. Click Mark as answered once you have replied to the visitor, by email, phone or WhatsApp. The button shows until the message is answered.

The status then reads Read or Answered, so the rest of the team knows the message is being taken care of. Only people who may change messages see these buttons.

Review spam

The contact page sets a message aside as spam when it looks automated: it was sent within a few seconds of opening the page, it carries three or more links, the same email already sent the same message in the last day, or it could not be verified. A message set aside notifies nobody and does not show in the list.

  1. In the filters, choose Spam under Status. The list shows the spam messages with their Spam reason: Sent too fast, Too many links, Repeated message or Could not be verified.
  2. Open one. If it is a real message, click Not spam: it goes back to New and everyone with access to Contact Messages receives its notification then.

On a new message that is spam, click Mark as spam to set it aside. The button shows only while the message is new. Only people who may change messages see these buttons.

What the visitor sees

The contact page asks for a name, an email, an optional phone, what they are interested in and a message of 10 to 2,000 characters. A phone has to carry 8 to 15 digits, with its area or country code; spaces, +, - and parentheses are allowed. A link from a product or a service page already chooses that product or service. A visitor can send up to five messages an hour; after that the page asks them to write on WhatsApp or try again later. The visitor's IP address is never saved with the message.

When the page is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, it shows Google's notice under the form, and a visitor it cannot confirm as a person is asked to write on WhatsApp instead; their message is not saved. A visitor whose message is set aside as spam still sees the usual thank-you message.
